Club Nights during the Sumer period will be Monday and Thursday 8 pm to 10 pm at Brackla until the start of the New Season. 2016-17 will see some matches being played on a Tuesday to ensure Monday Night's sessions are not touched. Matches next season will therefore be Tuesday (most A teams), Thursday and Sunday (Swansea B and matches unable to be fitted in elsewhere).
We are looking for new players to fill the various teams i.e. Cardiff Mens A-D, Cardiff Ladies A-B, and Cardiff Mixed A-C. In addition to the new junior section which started in January a new senior feeder/development section is due to start at 7 to 8 pm following on from the Thursday Junior session (6-7 pm).
Fees for the new season in general remain unchanged other than the £1 increase due to NGB affiliation fees increase. This will mean that annual subscriptions are now £132, quarterly at £45 (first quarter at £46), Guest fees £5 per session, Match fees £3.
Fixture Secretary for the New season is myself.
Lets keep the momentum goings guys and have a successful 2016-17!
The Club's AGM will be on Thursday 23rd June at 7.30 pm in the Sports Centre.
Following the successes of the Club's teams this year we are looking for league standard players to play next season to build on what has already been achieved in the past six seasons.
Club nights are Monday and Thursday 8 pm till 10 pm.
What a busy year? The Club started the season with a Swansea Levels Div 3 match in the first week of the season on 6th September 2015, and finished on the last day of the season with a Cardiff Mixed Div 3 match B team v C team.
Expectations were high at the beginning of the year and the teams did not disappoint.
In Swansea the A team won its 3rd consecutive title (Div 2) and now Division 1 status beckons for 16-17. The B levels team also won the Div 3 title in their first year and will now be amongst the second tier next year. In the 3 years since acceptance into the league, the Club's level teams have yet to lose a match. Much tougher opposition is expected next year for both teams!
In Cardiff & District, the Club entered 4 Mens, 2 Ladies and 3 Mixed teams.
Cardiff Mens Teams
Mens A won the Division 2 title and have now gone 2 years without defeat. Division 1 next year!
Mens B consolidated their position in Division 3 following promotion last year.
Mens C who were promoted in a restructure of the divisions to Division 4 survived and maintained their status in a closely contested division, avoiding relegation by just 4 points.
Mens D finished 3rd narrowly missing out on 2nd place by 6 pts. Very encouraging with a number of juniors and former recreational players in their ranks.
Cardiff Ladies Teams
We unfortunately had to drop the Ladies C team which meant that the Club missed out on representation in all 3 divisions. What is encouraging is the number of Juniors participating in the Teams and performing excellently.
Ladies A again held their own in Division 1 finishing 4th.
Ladies B won the Division 3 title by a big margin the only blemish being a concession due to unavailability of players. Division 2 next year.
Cardiff Mixed Teams
The Mixed teams were placed in Division 2 (Mixed A) and Division 3 (Mixed B & C teams).
Mixed A won the Division 2 title losing only 2 matches in the process. Division 1 next year!
Mixed B won the Division 3 title losing only 1 match all year. Division 2 next year!
Mixed C, the only blemish on the Club Report with automatic relegation from Division 3 having conceded 2 or more matches. In the matches that were contested the team showed itself to be competitive. Back up next year?
To sum it up, of the 12 teams competing for the Club we achieved 6 divisional title (4 Cardiff, 2 Swansea), 5 preserving their status and one relegation. A total of 47 players represented the Club at various levels. An outstanding season guys... you deserve a break of a week before training starts for next year!!
