Season Summary 15-16

Posted by ian

What a busy year? The Club started the season with a Swansea Levels Div 3 match in the first week of the season on 6th September 2015, and finished on the last day of the season with a Cardiff Mixed Div 3 match B team v C team.

Expectations were high at the beginning of the year and the teams did not disappoint.

In Swansea the A team won its 3rd consecutive title (Div 2) and now Division 1 status beckons for 16-17. The B levels team also won the Div 3 title in their first year and will now be amongst the second tier next year. In the 3 years since acceptance into the league, the Club's level teams have yet to lose a match. Much tougher opposition is expected next year for both teams!

In Cardiff & District, the Club entered 4 Mens, 2 Ladies and 3 Mixed teams.

Cardiff Mens Teams

Mens A won the Division 2 title and have now gone 2 years without defeat. Division 1 next year!

Mens B consolidated their position in Division 3 following promotion last year.

Mens C who were promoted in a restructure of the divisions to Division 4 survived and maintained their status in a closely contested division, avoiding relegation by just 4 points.

Mens D finished 3rd narrowly missing out on 2nd place by 6 pts. Very encouraging with a number of juniors and former recreational players in their ranks.

Cardiff Ladies Teams

We unfortunately had to drop the Ladies C team which meant that the Club missed out on representation in all 3 divisions. What is encouraging is the number of Juniors participating in the Teams and performing excellently.

Ladies A again held their own in Division 1 finishing 4th.

Ladies B won the Division 3 title by a big margin the only blemish being a concession due to unavailability of players. Division 2 next year.

Cardiff Mixed Teams

The Mixed teams were placed in Division 2 (Mixed A) and Division 3 (Mixed B & C teams).

Mixed A won the Division 2 title losing only 2 matches in the process. Division 1 next year!

Mixed B won the Division 3 title losing only 1 match all year. Division 2 next year!

Mixed C, the only blemish on the Club Report with automatic relegation from Division 3 having conceded 2 or more matches. In the matches that were contested the team showed itself to be competitive. Back up next year?

To sum it up, of the 12 teams competing for the Club we achieved 6 divisional title (4 Cardiff, 2 Swansea), 5 preserving their status and one relegation. A total of 47 players represented the Club at various levels. An outstanding season guys... you deserve a break of a week before training starts for next year!!

Swansea Levels A win promotion

Posted by ian

With 2 games left, the Swansea Mens A team remain undefeated and have secured promotion to the upper tier. In the 3 years since we entered the league the Club has yet to lose a match. Successive promotions have propelled the A team to Div 1 having started in the lower leagues. Similarly the B team in its first year are still unbeaten and are top of their Division. With 5 games left (4 at Home) it is anticipated that they can complete a unique double for the Club.
